This is Theft NOT Incompetence, Vodacom!
Vodacom & Vodacom Customer Care Complaint – In May 2019 I decided to buy into a R369 per month Vodacom DATA two year contract which would save me money on data. I am an online entrepreneur and as such require data in order to operate and earn my keep. The Vodacom deal saves me a thousand bucks a month, if not more. Great! However, since entering into this contract, I feel like I am no longer in control of my calls, my bank account or my privacy. In fact, Vodacom has done nothing but frustrate me, abuse me, insult my intelligence and steal from me since the day I signed up.
Vodacom Illegal Billing is NOT Incompetence, it is FRAUD
On 12 July I sent Vodacom the mail below

Subject: Re: Vodacom Invoices and Statements – I7488861
Please note that this invoice charges me for advances that I have already paid and expect for this amount NOT to be taken from ky (sic) account. I am wondering hiw (sic) last month worked as well.
In response, Vodacom sent me a blank email. I fired one back (as per tweeted images below). Someone then called me claiming to be from Vodacom requiring information to be able to assist, but of course, ever since I took out the contract, Vodacom has blocked my Caller Identification which was a FREE feature of my Prepaid service. I told them I could not give them my information as I could not identify them on my phone. We all know how giving information to even numbers which show up can lead to life savings being taken from accounts at banks. So, I wasn’t about to entertain the idea of doing something Vodacom itself warns us against.

The matter was never resolved and Vodacom proceeded to debit my account at the beginning of August in spite of clearly being told they had already been paid by deducting it from my prepaid airtime recharge in the first days of July.
Combining Prepaid & Contract Billing – Unethical & Illegal?
When signing up for this contract I was asked if I want to migrate my prepaid plan as well and I specifically said no. But now Vodacom is applying DATA Contract rules to a prepaid airtime contract. This in itself is questionable. The two are seperate and should be treated as such. I for one, have been totally confused by Vodacom’s processes. But it doesn’t end there …
I have proven to Vodacom that they have taken money from my account which is not owing and during the discussion I pointed out that they were actively, currently repeating the same offense and sent them that proof as well. See tweet below. Still nomreply from Vodacom on that score, but my account still reflects I owe them money which has already been paid (a R10 advance on prepaid which has nothing to do with my data contract. No reply to that particular tweet. Just a tweet after 8pm on a Friday night telling me they will give me my money back in 7-14 days as a “ONCE-OFF GOODWILL GESTURE”!
Further to this. My data contraft (sic) is R369 but your bill for this month already claims R380.01. For what? How many times must I ask for an answer. You are billing me twice. Don’t talk about May, talk about June, July and now August. How many others? pic.twitter.com/3DfqjG0MHJ

What Vodacom Steals it Gives Back in “Goodwill Gestures”
Vodacom sent me a tweet in which they claim that paying me money back that they stole from my account is a “Goodwill Gesture”. Let me get this right. Without owing them, without my authorization and in spite of being formed that they should not debit my account at least 20 days before, they proceeded to steal it anyway and are showing me a GOODWILL GESTURE when they ignored emails and tweets telling them I have no food? How many others of Vodacom’s 60 odd million subscribers have been screwed over like this?

Vodacom Processes Need to be Challenged Publicly & WILL BE
Vodacom took no effort to resolve or deal with me as a human being. They were informed that I did not budget for this money to be taken from my account and as a result I would go without food for the weekend. That was on Friday night. It is now Sunday and they have ignored every attempt to communicate with them on Twitter where they select which tweets they respond to.
As a result, I have embarked on a hunger strike tagged #NoCashToSpare on Twitter. I will also post a new post outlining the process and terms and conditions of this hunger strike in due course. Vodacom have been informed and I don’t care if they don’t care, what I care about is that they treated me like a neglected pig, not a human … and for this they must and WILL account.
